Magical Mysteries

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, I don’t claim to know anything. I also do not have any “belief system” because I truly feel that one should entertain anything while questioning everything. However, I do enjoy entertaining the idea that there is meaning behind numbers, coincidences, and events in your life.

I once stumbled upon a word unfamiliar to me: Synchromysticism. The word was coined by Jake Kotze in 2006 and the most succinct definition of the word is “the art of realizing meaningful coincidences in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance”.

I enjoyed this idea so much that I even purchased synchromysticism.com. As you probably noticed, the word is a play on the word synchronicity which was extensively discussed by the great Carl Jung. The idea that everything in the Universe is divinely connected and all events in our lives point to significance can be fun to consider.

I awoke this morning and looked at the time on my phone and it was 4:44 exactly. Some Spiritualists say that anytime you see the exact same string of digits showing up in your life it is a message from the Universe. There are various meanings behind these numbers but I always wonder who came up with exactly what each one meant.

Again, all of this is fun to consider and entertain but as always, I question it along with everything else. The mystery of life to me is the most enjoyable. I think we would be bored if we knew the truth. It makes me wonder if we truly are the Universe experiencing itself in human form and have purposely hid the truth from ourselves in order to have a good time.
